What a Business Network Audit Actually Involves
“Network audit” sounds vague until you have sat through one, so here is what we actually look at when a business asks us to review their existing setup.
What gets reviewed
- Current topology – how everything is actually connected versus how anyone thinks it is connected
- Firewall rules and what is genuinely exposed to the internet
- Wi-Fi coverage and whether guest and staff traffic are properly separated
- Backup configuration, and whether a restore has ever actually been tested
- Hardware age and whether anything is running past its realistic lifespan
What you get at the end
A written summary in plain language, not just a list of technical findings – what is working fine, what needs attention soon, and what can reasonably wait. Most audits turn up at least one or two things worth fixing regardless of how well-managed the network seemed going in.
